To reduce the state’s reliance on town water the South Australian Government introduced the H2OME Rebate Scheme for residential properties built before 1 July 2006. The scheme includes a rebate of $200-$1000 towards the cost of purchase a retrofit of a rainwater tank for use in toilet flushing, clothes washing or hot water supply.

Rainwater tanks must be 1000L or more, plumbed into at least one eligible fixture and have a Certificate of Compliance from a licensed plumber.
